I’m really hoping to see more from Scott Adkins soon. He was the bad guy in Undisputed II, opposite Michael Jai White (of Spawn renown.) The fights between those two were some of the best and most brutal-looking fights I’ve seen in a long time.
There’s a movie in post-production now called The Tournament. It also stars Ving Rhames and Kelly Hu. That puts it firmly on the B-list roster, but I’ll see it anyway.

I’m watching Human Weapon on the History Channel. I knew this would be a mostly-fluff series, since it’s a brief overview of a new martial art for each episode. I didn’t think these guys would be talking out of their asses.
“In other martial arts, you train with a weapon and learn techniques specific to that weapon that can’t be applied when you lose it. In Escrima, every technique can be applied with a stick, a knife, or empty-handed.”
Bullshit. He’s right about Escrima, but other arts use the same approach. In Aikido, every move with with a staff or sword had a variation for empty-handed application. For the most part, the motions were exactly the same. How can someone who’s supposed to be an expert make such a broad and blatantly wrong statement?
I’m still watching the show because I want to see the native practitioners. I’ve had it with the voice-over and commentary from the two hosts, though.
In other news, I’m leaving in the morning for South Carolina. We’ll be spending a few days in Savannah before we head up to Greenville. Back next Sunday or Monday. See you then!
